All my tenants have been going on about this morning is the latest Government proposals to slash the £72,000 compensation cap for unfair dismissal (all against it) and so I wondered what you all think about these latest labour reforms?

Are you for or against?

I believe that Ministers should be making it easier to hire people, not easier to fire people.

And that sacrificing people's rights at work isn't really the best way to get our economy back on track, is it?

One of my tenants did make me laugh though, asking 'Will these new laws apply to under-performing MPs, too?' Laugh

An interest post, but don't you have to have worked somewhere for 2 Years before you have any sort of employment protection ???

I thought, maybe mistakenly, that if you had less than 2 Years Service then your Boss could dismiss you fairly easily ???

But if these new Laws could be directed to our Liberal Coalition friends then maybe it wouldn't be such a bad move ???

Imagine the conversation between Dave and Nick......sorry mate your lot haven't performed.  You are fired !!!Cool

Why are any further changes needed to the employment laws regarding unfair dismissal?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the period extended from 12 months to 2 years shortly after this coalition government came into power?

The present arrangements are tried and tested and have been in successful operation for around 40 years............... Confused
