We hear about minority fractions that are being persecuted each and every day. I agree that we're all in this together and that we're all equal. I mean everyone has to have an MOT, with working seat belts to keep everyone safe - It's not just a requirement for hire cars is it?
So lets take a quick look at laws that apply to landlords and no-one else:

Gas Safety
I mean if we're expected to get a gas safety to protect tenants and families (to which I agree) how can that be that only landlords have to do that? Shouldn't it be a standard requirement that all gas boilers be inspected once a year?

Deposit Protection
Landlords must hold a tenants deposit securely with one of the official schemes. But what if, for example, you give a builder a deposit and he doesn't do the job? NOTHING!

Energy Performance
From 2018 landlords will not be able to rent out properties that are below an E rating with regards to the EPC. Homeowners don't have to adhere to this, and neither do those who sell properties that fall below the E rating. Why isn't there a standard EPC rating for all housing?

Eviction
If you don't pay for a meal in a restaurant you can be immediately thrown out and the police be called. But if you don't pay your rent you can remain in the property for at least 2 months...

Can you think of anything else that only applies to landlords?

So what I wanna know is this: IS IT CUZ IM A LANDLORD ?!

Most of my evicted tenants stayed about 8 months rent free!!

Perhaps the County Courts work better where you are.

Not where I am!

smoke alarms wired interlinked in kitchen, hall and lounge...doesn't apply to council houses. Registration fees doesn't apply to council houses. bedroom tax doesn't apply to council houses. electrical certificates doesn't apply to council houses. tenants packs, epc reports, etc etc Why should the PRS need all these yet council houses don't.

Council houses also have taxpayers subsidized rents.

I wonder what this years fad will be in Scotland to get more money out of private landlords.Confused
