Referencing for tenants who’ve just arrived from another EU country – Do they qualify for RGI?
Dear Samii
Please can you let me know whether you are able to carry out referencing for tenants who have just arrived from another country in the EU? Also, are they able to qualify for RGI?
Samii says
The problem we face is that a credit check is a required element of eligibility for RGI. As the applicant is only just in the UK we are unable to obtain one.
After 6 months we would be able to do a credit check and then subject to score be able to apply an RGI policy subject to meeting all other criteria in a retrospective manner. eg. It would start on the day it is applied but you would not be able to claim for the first 90 days.
Hope this clarifies for you.
